#OTHMagazine Nothing Goes Wasted In The Wild | Interview with M.A.V

Peace MAV, welcome back on a short notice. We just spoke with you and already you are back dropping another project. Before we get into that though, how have you been and what's new?

Glad to be back! I’m just taking it day by day if I win each day as it comes that’s a pretty good win loss record right there.

“Nothing Goes Wasted In The Wild.” You always have thought provoking titles “Breakfast at Sue’s,” “Long Story Short,” “A Luxury You Can't Afford,” what inspired the title for this project?

It’s pretty coded but I believe everyplace deserves a sort of awareness for you to be successful in it. Be it urban environments or nature, it all deserves a certain type of respect. You hunt live game and process it in the field, take your meat and leave the rest as an offering to the

environment. Other animals feed off the carcass and the nutrients from the body fertilize the soil, as what’s remained decays. Then some adventurous motherfucka comes and makes an arts and craft project out of the bones lol.

This is your first project with K Sluggah, how was it working with him and how did y'all connect?

Working with Sluggah was easy, he’s an easy going guy but passionate about what he does. We connected via the gram while being fans of each others prior bodies of work and started trading ideas and sending work back and forth until we ultimately came up with “ What Goes Wasted In The Wild “

I would say “Loose Change” or “Think About It” would be my personal favorites. Both have a different feel completely, something you seemed to do a little more on this project is experiment with flows and not your

typical MAV sound. Was that intended?

Absolutely! I wasn’t reinventing myself but I was having a little fun when it came to how I delivered the lyrics. I always choose something to focus on when I’m in project mode. I recognize the endgame so in getting there I focus on what things I may want to do differently than I did the last time based on the soundscape I’m working with than I did the last time based on the soundscape I’m working with.

With that being said, what track is your personal favorite from this release and or is there a track you are most excited for your fans to hear?

I’d have to say “Think About It”! Early in life Special Ed was one of my go to listens and I thought the cuts from his record would serve as a dope point of recollection for the listeners. Swab did the cuts and killed that shit for us. He’s a dope producer as well if you didn’t know. He did “A Luxury You Can't Afford.“ Also I like the interludes as they are reference points to a certain situation.

Will there be any merch releases to accompany the release? Vinyls, Shirts, Cassettes, CDs, etc.

Vinyl fulfillment for “NGWITW” will be with AllThingzMAV.com and BarsOverBS will be handling the CD and cassette fulfillment for us. We’re also doing trail mix and jerky in bags that come with the QR code for the digital download instead of selling just the digital link. Maybe at a later date we move to push just the digital link for stragglers but our innovation peeked at moving in a different direction with this one. Also it's on all streaming platforms.

Speaking of your website, you just recently revamped it, added new material and content. Tell us about AllThingzMav.com

Ultimately I want AllThingzMAV.com to be a place where exclusive MAV material is available for the fans. That stuff that you can’t get anyplace else, that stuff you have to come straight to the dope house to get. Behind the scene photos, commentary, music, merchandise you name it.

Mav, I appreciate your time, especially on a short notice and I know you're in the studio finalizing this release.

“Nothing Goes Wasted In The Wild” available now via AllThingzMAV.com with CDs and cassettes available at BarsOverBs.com. That’s Ty Farris company right there, he’s a dope artist and businessman featured on some prior bodies of work just to put that out there for the unfamiliar.

Before we wrap up, the floor is yours for any final comments or anything we may have missed.

I appreciate the support as usual as well as your contributions to making the project a success. I appreciate the fans new and old for rocking with myself and DaCloth and get ready for a busy year. We are loading up for a top of the year release as well and i look forward to presenting it to you all.
