HeartSolo Interview with OTH Magazine + New Video "Anemic"

Please start by introducing yourself to the readers.

What’s going on I’m an artist with a lot of different flows, sounds, smooth to your ear but also hype! I love making my craft unrecognizable and rare. I'm from Jersey City, New Jersey and use a lot of different types of beats. My name is reeko5eva on all platforms, because of the speed I used to drop my songs I have chosen to change my name and start fresh as HeartSolo.

As you mentioned you previously went as “Rico Sever” and I hear there is a story along with that. Mind sharing?

Ever since I started freestyling in twelfth grade I knew my flow would be quicker. I believe that’s the future sound . I believe I can make music on old beats as well but if my flow is ahead of my time already my sound will be” 5ever”. Fast clean with melodies the future is on its way for rap!

Sonically your music is a fusion of styles and sound. What type of music were you raised on and musically who and what influenced your sound.

I was raised off Michael Jackson heavily. Unfortunately, when he passed I could do

nothing but listen to him still. As I got older I got into Lil Mouse, Keef, A Boogie , Lil Tecca and Justin Rarri. Justin Rarri caught my eye because of his choice of words and his flow. His presence is powerful overall, he takes over when he’s shooting videos .

How would you describe your sound?

I describe it as a familiar melody but original. I'm softer but still on some street stuff. I grew up around gangsters coming up in Jersey City, so I’m still talking with swag. I like to use melodies as a more versatile approach.

At the time of this interview you are finishing up your EP, which is currently untitled but set to release in July. What information can you give us about this release?

Untitled is correct but it’s going to be a versatile street melody type ep. I make sure I throw some expressions in my music, if you don’t get it the next person might. With this generation it’s a lot of wicked stuff that happens involving relationships. So I put my music out for the heartbroken.

Do you have a track from this release that you are most excited for the fans to hear?

“Sharks,” is a nice flowing type of song I hope the ladies can rock with it and one day I get a few festivals to perform at to make a name for myself. “Sharks,” I’m excited for the fans to hear but I’m more excited to meet new people and watch different doors open to my world because of my music.

What do you hope to accomplish with the release of this project? What is the short term and long term goal for this release?

My goal is to find a way for the community of artists in this area to come together,

hopefully hearing my EP. Let the quiet ones out ! Life is too short not to stick together

and help our dreams come true.

Outside of music you're also passionate about becoming a video director and producer. Tell us more about this.

I feel like because of the approach I have with music, my eyes can catch the right type of vision for other artists. One thing we all look for is being different. With anything I do I know I could stand out from the rest. Making beats would be a great thing for me as well because of my ability to hear melodies on beats others might not.
